MontrealRacing.com – “Eurokracy Makes Us Proud to be From Quebec”

Source – MontrealRacing.com

Quebec gets a bad rap for many things: high taxes, terrible roads, corrupt politicians etc. One thing that cannot be put into that category is our car scene – specifically the Euro scene. That fact was evident after the fourth edition of Eurokracy which took place today at Napierville Dragway, located 20 min south of Montreal.

Over its four-year existence, Euokracy has demonstrated significant growth. The first edition filled Autodrome St-Eustache in the pouring rain back in 2011. The second year was also held at Autodrome St-Eustache albeit under better conditions. Last year they made the move to Napierville and rocked the place. This year was simply astounding in terms of attendance. The entire grounds were filled to capacity to the point where drivers had to be told to find parking elsewhere and walk to the track. We can safely say that Eurokracy isn’t just the biggest Euro show in Quebec, it’s the biggest show in Quebec, period.

Euro enthusiasts made the trek from all over the Northeast and invaded the tiny town of Napierville, Qc which is home to the track. It’s the only show in Quebec which draws significant amounts of people from out of province and out of country. We haven’t had a show of this significance since the now defunct SCP show last held at the Olympic Stadium five years ago.

Eurokracy even sought the expertise of famous automotive photographer Sam Dobbins who is the founder of www.morethanmore.com. Dobbins travels all over US and Canada, photographing the finest Euro vehicles and was on hand to document and judge the show.

Spectators were treated to a plethora of vendors, a burnout competition, ¼ mile drag racing, show ‘n shine and our favourite: the Neckbreaker which is exclusive to Eurokracy. The Neckbreaker is essentially car limbo. While you may think it’s a silly and without a purpose, it adds another element of flare to the show and is very entertaining to watch.

It’s going to be hard to top today’s extravaganza but the organisers know their stuff and will be preparing almost immediately for next year. With four years’ experience under their belt, we have no doubt the fifth anniversary will be incredible.
